In July of this year, Gov. Shapiro signed a new law replacing the current Alternative Fuels Tax (AFT) on electric vehicles (EVs) of 1.72¢ per kWh with a flat fee of $200/year. Before this new law, EV owners had to submit monthly reports on electricity usage and pay hundreds of dollars to the Department of Revenue for that usage. This new law will save Pennsylvanian EV owners both time and money.
